The Archivist
Martha Cooley
Easy Writer -- This novel is an easy, breezy, quick-enough read, covering parallel love stories involving a fussy librarian. I was intrigued by Cooley's use of alternating chapters to move the novel along as well as how she uses blatant page-turners to manipulate suspense. But when I realized I was more interested in the craftsmanship than the story being told, I quietly closed the book and slipped it back onto the shelf.
